Rise Against Domestic Violence SA is a registered non profit organisation providing free legal guidance, volunteer one to one sessions, and trauma informed support to survivors of domestic violence across South Africa.
We exist to empower all survivors, regardless of gender or background, and to provide the resources needed to navigate abuse and healing.
Rise operates entirely without external funding. We do not seek grants, sponsorships, or donations, choosing instead to remain fully independent to protect the integrity of our mission and ensure our work remains solely focused on survivor needs.

Legal Guidance for Survivors
We deliver accurate, compassionate legal guidance to individuals who are not legally represented. Our volunteer legal professionals assist with domestic violence cases, divorce matters, protection orders, child and spousal maintenance, assault charges, and related criminal matters.
We equip survivors with the information and support needed to navigate complex and emotionally challenging legal processes.
We do not represent survivors in court.
We respect professional boundaries and will not intervene if you already have legal representation. Our legal support is specifically for survivors who do not have access to legal advice elsewhere.
We also provide a platform for law students and aspiring legal professionals to gain hands on experience within our support structure. This allows them to develop skills, understand real world legal challenges, and contribute directly to our mission while cultivating the next generation of compassionate, skilled legal professionals.
We collaborate with SLSJ Law Clinic, the first online domestic violence law clinic, which successfully completed its inaugural programme in 2025 and will continue operations from 2026 onwards.

This programme creates a safe environment where survivors can find empowerment and begin their healing journeys.
In partnership with Humanitas, we provide counselling sessions with volunteers and interns for survivors and for individuals seeking change.
This holistic approach fosters education and understanding around domestic violence, enabling communities to address these issues constructively.
