Another frequent sign of a narcissist is that they will shamelessly contact your parents and your relatives without respecting the boundaries between in-laws, to broadcast outright lies about you. They will pour poison into their ears, sometimes even bribing them with with fake generosity and money, until they believe you need urgent psychiatric help, you're going crazy or you've always been unstable.
If this is your situation, understand that you're looking for beauty in a beast. The earlier you flee the more chances you have to rebuild your life because the narcissist is systematically isolating you from every possible form of support until you're completely at their mercy, their puppet.
Because most victims stay for the sake of the children, to give them a 'complete family' environment, let me remind us that narcissists cannot co-parent. They only counter-parent with you, in that they uproot what you plant and model vices instead of virtues. They love their children not as independent people who need care and protection to grow but as possessions and symbols of their achievement. So they will be trying to extract admiration and high regard from them, as opposed to instilling life skills and values.
Understand: everything a narcissist does is geared towards giving them domination and admiration. They live on these two emotions and nothing else. The technical word for this ego-boost is Narcissistic Supply, but it simply means they're hollow beings who cannot form healthy bonds with other humans. They can only dominate and control every situation, and try to extract praise and admiration from everyone so they can feel good about themselves. Sounds vain right? Yes because narcissists are petty and vain people.
