Narcissistic personality disorder is found more commonly in men. The cause is unknown but likely involves a combination of genetic and environmental factors. Symptoms include an excessive need for admiration, disregard for others' feelings, an inability to handle any criticism and a sense of entitlement. The disorder needs to be diagnosed by a professional. Treatment involves talk therapy. Treatment can help, but this condition can't be cured Requires a medical diagnosis Lab tests or imaging not required Chronic: can last for years or be lifelong Requires a medical diagnosis Symptoms include an excessive need for admiration, disregard for others' feelings, an inability to handle any criticism and a sense of entitlement. People may experience: Common symptoms: grandiosity, callous and unemotional traits, disregard for others' feelings, excessive need for admiration, or social isolation. Narcissistic personality disorder involves a pattern of self-centred, arrogant thinking and behaviour, a lack of empathy and consideration for other people, and an excessive need for admiration. Others often describe people with NPD as cocky, manipulative, selfish, patronizing, and demanding.
